Grove City is dubbed “Best Little Town in Pennsylvania” so it begs the question: are they hosting “Best Little Strawberry Festival”?  By the amount of effort and planning that goes into their annual festival, one is compelled to answer with an emphatic “yes”!  Held over four days, Grove City Strawberry Days is the premier June event for the area.  With the family activities, quality entertainment, and great food, so much  goes into a Strawberry Day you might have trouble actually fitting in time for the strawberries… well maybe not.

While at the festival, be sure to bring your kids to the Strawberry Short Cake Patch.  A place loaded with excitement, the Short Cake Patch hosts fun games and activities such as face painting and a children’s obstacle course.  Through Strawberry Festival there is a hive of activities.  There are caricature sketches, sand art, balloon art, and cart rides, while street performers like puppeteers, jugglers, and clowns perform for everyone’s enjoyment.  The art show, however small, is great fun and is a fantastic platform for great local artists selling beautifully decorated and crafted goods. Through the weekend there are about a half dozen bands, playing mostly in the evening.  There are also variety shows, and the very popular talent show.

Word of advice: come hungry to Strawberry Festival.  There are nearly two dozen food vendors, and all are from the local area.  Better than homemade food from the likes of the American Legion and the Boy Scouts is that no two vendors are alike – it is designed that way.  The result is a tapestry of the highest order.  Meatball sandwiches, Sloppy Joes, sausage sandwiches, cheese steak sandwiches, candied apples, deep-fried pretzels, and battered onions are just a sampling of what’s offered.  Naturally there are plenty of strawberry foods.  Local strawberries are for sale fresh as well as strawberry treats.  Shortcakes, strawberry funnel cakes, and strawberries deep-fried are festival favorites.

Admission and Parking is free.
