MLK Jr. Day in the Park is an amazing event. Held in conjunction with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, this festival is designed to instill community oneness and help bring everyone together – if only for the afternoon. As the sponsors point out, it is a day simply to relax and come together, and nothing truer could be said of this event.
At MLK Jr. Day in the Park there is a spirit of comradery. There is a feeling that the community leaders are genuinely vested in the interests of the societal whole. There is ice skating. Okay, so ice skating is hardly the only thing to do! There is also snowshoeing and sled riding. But the fun doesn’t stop. There are arts and crafts for the kids. All day long, local DJs provide live entertainment. Educational programs and lectures from local representatives remind everyone of what MLK Day is really about.
Enough good can’t be said for MLK Jr. Day in the Park. With a mission as honest and true as the message of Dr. King, this festival is at once humbling and heart-warming to experience. The very thing that makes festivals so great in the first place is their ability to bring people together. MLK in the Park brilliantly combines that sentiment with the message of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and creates a genuine display of community celebration you simply can’t afford to miss.
