The Smicksburg Old Fashioned Christmas is an early season Christmas festival that encompasses the entire town in celebration of the encroaching holiday scene. Loaded with unique shopping, and good food, this festival is a type of entertainment found only in a small town. With free treats, fun times, and hot drinks this festival is the kind of place where country stores feel more like Christmas Parties. Town-wide glee meets town-wide event at Old Fashioned Christmas were all are sure to be enthralled and energized.

At Old Fashioned Christmas there are plenty of entertaining activities through town. Without a doubt, the Friday night is the tree light up is the don’t-miss event. The occurrence is thrown with a big bonfire, a special appearance by Santa Clause, and treats for all the kids. Through the weekend live music and shows play at cafes and restaurants. Santa stops by the local country stores on Saturday and Sunday. There are even free wagon rides through the countryside. Raffles are held for great door prizes, including a shopping spree, and a two-night stay at the local Wingate Guest House

If there is one theme at Old Fashioned Christmas it would be “eat and shop”. The local restaurants serve delicious old-fashioned specials in celebration of the event. Hot turkey sandwiches, beer battered fish and oak barrel steak are accentuated by homemade desserts like warm blueberry pie and gingerbread with lemon sauce. Both downtown and in the surrounding area are plenty of little shops and all have their best holiday ornaments, decorations and amazing, unique gifts ready for festival visitors. Between the antique shops, potteries, specialty boutiques and Amish furniture stores there is something special for everyone on your holiday list.

Admission is free and parking is in town.
