Frankly, the breadth of activities and events at the Southern Clarion County Sportsman Show is amazing. Outdoor shows of this style tend to either be very big in scope or modestly small. However, the Southern Clarion County Sportsman Show somehow finds a way to strike the right balance between the two. The moderately sized event is mainly focused on state and regionally-focused exhibitors. And yet there are lots of great things to see and do. This reality is punctuated all the more by the absence of overwhelming crowds. The end result is a perfectly toned show that is low key yet offers plenty of real fun.
There are a lot of great things to do at the Sportsman Show all weekend long. However, the main draw is probably the Bow Baseball Archery Tournament, where teams participate in a sort of baseball inspired competition of shooting. There is also an accompanying Home run derby that also integrates archery and baseball. Interested corn hole teams can pre-register for the very serious and very fun Clarion County Corn Hole Tournament. There is also an officially sanctioned amateur turkey calling contest. For the kids, there are plenty of youth oriented exhibits and activities. Some of the more popular attractions include the youth fishing derby, an air gun range, and a youth archery range.
The Sportsman Show hosts a moderate fifty exhibitors for the event. Booths include are a wide range of goods and crafts vendors, hunting and fishing charters, as well as a plethora of state and national organizations who represent everything from the DCNR, to the NRA, and the Girl Scouts of America! The Sportsman Show also hosts the annual PA Whitetail Wall of Fame where any interested participant can register and enter their whitetail mount to be put on display during the event. A winning whitetail mount will be chosen and participants can win great prizes. There is also antler scoring and jawbone dating available at the show all weekend long.
