One part fundraiser and one part community festival, the California Riverfest is dedicated to raising money for and awareness of preserving the Monongahela River and the communities for which it runs through. Funds raised immediately go back into preserving river trails and community riverfront parks. As such, Riverfest promises to be a place and opportunity to reconnect with nature and inspire togetherness. Be ready for fun at Riverfest and look for this festival to grow much in the coming years
Even in its inaugural years, Riverfest draws plenty of entertainment for the family. Tie-dying shirts and painting faces will keep children and families happy through the day. For the adults, there is a cozy little art show with local and regional crafters selling their wares. A free car show runs adjacent the library and ends with a car cruise. Saturday evening brings a fun fireworks show.
As a community festival and fundraiser Riverfest is primarily concerned with gathering people. Nothing brings people together better than music and Riverfest has it en mass. Over a half dozen bands take the stage with live and energetic music throughout the weekend. Food – the other great connector – is on full display. Vendors line the street selling traditional festival favorites all weekend so come hungry. Also of note is the Appalachian Grand Prix which runs through town that same weekend. This event is total excitement and is a draw all its own.
Admission is free and parking is free.
