Prepare to get into that deep-wood, back country, feel good rhythm; the Clarion River Jam Bluegrass Festival is here! Sponsored by the United Way of Clarion County, The Clarion River Jam hosts a caravan of local and regional bluegrass talent in a procession of near constant music over a weekend schedule stuffed to the brim with nearly fifty artists. The event is held annually since 2010 and, while relatively new, it is quickly becoming a regional staple; drawing increasingly larger crowds from far and abroad. So shake free the tired winter rust and welcome spring with a weekend of free family entertainment and top-notch music playing.
The Clarion River Jam runs for one and a half days, during which a melee of nearly three dozen local and regional bluegrass artists take the stage. Performers play 30 minute sets, while the intense lineup runs nearly back-to-back. Between sets, or just for the heck of it, musicians are prone to impromptu jam sessions. In fact visitors are encouraged to join in the fun; so be sure to bring your instrument if you got it. There is never a moment when the scratchy draw of a fiddle or twangy pluck of a banjo is not wafting through the event halls.
In addition to all the great music at the Clarion River Jam, onsite vendors are selling everything from CDs and musical instruments, to a wide assortment of hand-made crafts. There are also food vendors aplenty, but guests can also bring their own food if desired. and Not to be missed is the official Clarion River Jam cookie table. Over a hundred dozen homemade, locally baked cookies are sold every year and they sell fast! Also be sure to buy your ticket for any of the fantastic raffles with prizes donated from local businesses. Proceeds from both the raffles and the cookie table benefit the United Way of Clarion County.
Admission and parking is free. Performances run late into the evening both Friday and Saturday. Guests who are interested in staying the entire time are encouraged to book a room at the hosting hotel.
