“Wine, music, food” or so the ancient mantra goes. It may be a simple notion, but at the Moon Dancer Folk Festival it is tirelessly effective. Life unfettered means joy in simplicity and the notion of a Moon Dancer evokes that very mood. It is as if to say that all what is needed in life is to eat, drink, and be merry… well maybe a little dancing too. This bit of old wisdom ultimately speaks to our deepest soul.
The bulk of the Folk Festival is music. Naturally, the genre is folk, but there is a spattering of bluegrass and acoustic rock. Over two days about a half dozen bands take the stage. While it may not be a marathon of bands as is found in other music festivals, the exclusive list actually helps to create a relaxed yet energetic atmosphere. It should be said that since there is such a limited list of bands, the festival itself is only a mid-afternoon to evening affair.
The cellar at the Moon Dancer Winery is stocked extensively meaning the Folk Festival is toasted gaily and fully. Come hungry because there are great selections of food at the festival designed to please and entice even the most discerning palette. For those who are touched deeply, the awe inspiring beauty of the hosting Moon Dancer Winery is something to behold. The winery itself is styled after a French Chateau and its sprawling vineyard overlooks the winding Susquehanna.
Admission prices are moderate and vary. Parking is free.
