The cutting of apple snitz and the boiling down of apple butter has been a tradition as long as there were Pennsylvania-Germans in the area. The community of New Columbia has kept the tradition alive and enjoyed by those able to purchase jars of the spread. This year’s production will be in Union County Bicentennial labeled jars and sold at the New Columbia Apple Butter Festival that includes food, children’s games, crafts, apple dumplings and the apple butter.
