Microbrews are growing in popularity, but you don’t have to tell that to the folks running the Original Newtown Brewfest – they got the memo. Brewfest is the must-go event for any and all beer lovers. This annual event has been going strong for years now, and every fest seems to get better. The forty dollars for general admission is a paltry fee when considering the selection. Festival tents are filled with almost two-hundred different beer vendors serving samples of seasonal and popular micro brews. There is even a tent for home brewers and a people’s choice award for the best basement brewer. Local restaurants are invited into the mix to serve food at the festival and the selection is almost as great as the beer. For the serious beer drinkers, Brewfest offers VIP Tickets. These special passes offer patrons complimentary food and the chance to take in the most exclusive suds, including beers that normally sell for 200+ a case! At Brewfest you don’t have to be a beer aficionado, but it doesn’t hurt. Don’t worry though; Brewfest is designed as much for the casual drinker as it is the passionate connoisseur. It is also designed to be safe. Designated Drivers can get special ten dollar admission tickets, and the festival offers a free shuttle between the festival and various stops. The event only lasts four hours so get there at opening to ensure maximum exposure. It should be noted that Newtown also has a great selection of hotels if you need to crash after all the great brews. General admission is forty dollars, VIP admission is seventy dollars, and Designated Drivers pay ten dollars. Tickets are sold at various locations, online, and at the door.
