New to 2014 is the Red, White, & Brew festival. Held in Uniontown’s downtown district, patrons can stroll through closed streets and avenues, sampling the regions best in wine and beer, shopping through the craft vendor booths, and relaxing in pedestrian-friendly Sorey Square. In a bold move, this beer fest is paired with a community-centered theme, as kids and families are not only welcomed, but strongly encouraged. Revel at what is surely a first-rate music concert, as over a half dozen bands take the main stage over two days of constant music that starts early in the afternoon and plays well into the evening. This festival is sure to banish all lingering ills of wintertime, and fully embrace the new exciting summertime.
Red, White, & Brew should be noted for it’s audacious originality. This ambitious event is a blend of one part brewfest, one part music fest, and one part Memorial Day celebration. But the reason Red, White & Brew is a stroke of mad genius is how they approach the alcohol portion of the event. Normally brewfests – though tastefully appointed – are held in private venues. However, this bold take on a brewfest attempts to mix these once mutually exclusive concepts together like some Malbec-inspired blend of libations and public celebration. It’s a crazy concept, especially the part where the brewfest runs for 8 hours over two days, and in the growing years this festival will find its stride. But if it works, Red, White, & Brew will surely become one of the best and most iconic festivals of the year.
