Taste of the Alleghenies is a food show highlighted with demonstrations, seminars and exhibitors over a jam-packed weekend. This show is busy, if only for the intense interest sparked in the region. For weeks and even months leading up to this most fabled weekend of culinary crafting, a seemingly endless barrage of media plugs and commercial spots propagate information about the show to local residents. Taste of the Alleghenies lives up to the hype.
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the show is that much of the show is sponsored or hosted by regional chefs and local businesses. Plenty of world-traveled chefs grace the stages, but just as many chefs are local fixtures with equally impressive credentials. Teens from the area take to the stage to whip up their favorite recipes as well. At Taste of the Alleghenies, everything from kitchen tips to secret families recipes are put on display during the seminars. Cooking demonstrations are a real blast and cover a wide range of cuisine types from across the world as well as specialty demonstrations related to ice cream sundaes, camping recipes and even a canine bakery!
A large exhibition hall is set up for visitors to interact with vendors selling various culinary wares and foods. Like the demonstrations, exhibitors pass out free samples. Amazing door prizes are given out during the weekend. Local businesses sponsor the event with things like custom landscaping for visitors to relax in, elegant wood burning ovens for specialty food demonstrations, and goody bags stuffed with treats and valuable coupons. Point being: there is no lack for something to do at Taste of the Alleghenies.
Admission rates are moderate and vary. Parking is free.
