Held the first Saturday of every July, the Watsontown Blueberry Festival is tiny festival with gigantic heart. Refreshing, scrumptious, and fortifying: this festival is much like the fruit that is it’s namesake. Hosted by the very energetic Watsontown UMC, this blueberry festival is loaded with delicious treats, great fun, and plenty of entertainment. Come early because this festival is a one day event and it will take every minute available to soak in all there is to do.
As might be well assumed, the Blueberry Festival is brimming with food. Both breakfast and lunch is served during the festival with an emphasis on blueberry-themed dishes. Blueberries picked fresh from local Byer’s Farm are for sell in pints, and blueberry treats such as pies and cupcakes are on hand. Lunch is the very popular chicken barbeque – and it is good. Tickets for lunch can be purchased at the door, but it’s recommended to purchase in advance if possible; these birds fly fast!
During the day the festival holds an inside-outside craft show in which vendors can sell there wares. Assortments of pottery, jewelry, paintings, and wood crafts adorn the lawn and halls of the show. A children’s activity zone is stocked with plenty of fun games that is sure to entertain the whole family. Even dad can join in the fun with events like the baseball/softball throw. Patrons serious about competition are encouraged to register for the horseshoe tournament. Cash prizes are awarded to the top placing. Live entertainment plays through the festival all day.
Admission and parking is free.
