At the Winter Family Festival at Parker Dam visitors can experience old sports with a creative twist. Not enough to have just a foot race through the cold, this festival hosts the Almost Naked Mile Run, where sprinters have bathing suits and that’s it! There is also a very exciting snowmobile race. Sign up and try your hand at blizzard volleyball – it is exactly like it sounds. The big event of Winter Family Festival is the Super Snow Bowl. Before the NFL hosts their championship game, this winter event hosts its own gridiron classic, this one played in the snow! And for those with arctic staying power, hop into the Polar Bear Plunge. In addition to the fun sports activities at the Winter Family Festival, there will be demonstrators on hand to explain the basics of many interesting and exciting activities. Visitors can learn the basics of ice fishing, get their hands into some winter bird feeding, and try the ancient art of snowshoeing. Parker Dam maintains a beautiful ice skating rink and sled riding hill. A six mile cross country ski track loops through the park as well and there will be a cross-country ski instructor on hand to help first timers. Parker Dam and the surrounding area is traditionally blasted with heavy winter snow, so Winterfest is a great way to shake off the sleepy winter doldrums. Old-fashioned winter fun and community involvement make the Winter Family Festival at Parker Dam Family a must for all families and children. This chilly festival is a shot of energetic activity and wholesome family fun that will have everyone cheering for more. Admission is free and parking is free.
