The Details:

The Bark Peelers’ Festival is the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum's biggest event of the year, offering thousands of visitors lively activities, contests, and demonstrations that celebrate traditional "woodhick" skills. Attendees can enjoy unique food and craft vendors, live music throughout the weekend, and a dedicated kids' corner with crafts and games. The festival features operating demonstrations of a steam-powered circular sawmill, birch still, blacksmithing, chainsaw carving, and lumber camp cooking. Visitors are encouraged to participate in competitions such as greased pole, log rolling, crosscut saw, and birling to vie for the "Grand Champion Bark Peeler" title and cash prizes. Additional contests include an annual Apple Pie Contest, a Beard & Mustache Competition, and frog jumping and seed spitting for children. The Eastern Loggers Model Railroad display is also in operation during the event.
