The Details:
The 19th Annual Les Brown Big Band Weekend is an LGBTQ+ friendly and handicapped accessible event dedicated to preserving the music of Les Brown and his Band of Renown. It spans three days, featuring a film festival, a USO dance, and a grand big band festival, all while remembering saxophonist/vocalist Butch Stone. The film fest showcases a rare 1950 MGM musical starring Les’ kid brother Stumpy Brown, while the USO dance on Friday recreates the Band of Renown's performances for Bob Hope's USO shows, with free admission for Korean and Vietnam veterans. The main Big Band Festival on Saturday offers three hours of continuous music and features with performances by various high school and college jazz bands.
