The Details:
Mifflinburg has long been known as Buggy Town. It is home to what may be the only intact 19th century buggy factory on its original site in the country. The Buggy Day festival celebrates the history and heritage of the buggy-making industry before it was overtaken by the automobile in the early 20th century. The festival includes buggy rides, a blacksmith, kids games, vendors, and, of course, the open house of the William A. Heiss Coachworks, the buggy repository, the Heiss family home, restored carriage house, and museum visitors center. Come visit one of the few sites in Union County thats on the National Register of Historic Places.
