The Details:
Smoke on the Rail is a Kansas City Barbeque Society State Championship and community festival held in partnership between New Freedom Borough and the Northern Central Railway. The event takes place in Marge Goodfellow Park during the last weekend of July and features both Backyard and Master Series barbecue competitions, a Steak Cookoff Association contest, and an ancillary seafood category. Attendees can enjoy barbecue, music, vendors, and activities, along with a special one-hour train ride on the Air Condition Trail Sisters.
