The Details:
New Freedom Borough has partnered with Northern Central Railway to host the Smoke on the Rails BBQ Festival, a Kansas City Barbeque Society State Championship event. This festival is paired with a community celebration in the heart of New Freedom. Backyard and Master Series teams will compete in Marge Goodfellow Park during the last weekend of July, showcasing their pitmaster skills in preparing chicken, ribs, pork, and brisket. Additionally, Steak Cookoff Association cooks will battle for the best-cooked ribeye and an ancillary crab meat category. The public can enjoy great food, music, vendors, and various activities during the competition.
